The company who created the game gave all the rare winning pieces to their friends. So it was impossible to win since the pieces that everyone wanted weren't even available.

I sware to god one day I was searching through the classifieds like usual when I came across about 5 ad's stating something like:
"I have the Park Place McDonald's Monopoly piece. DO you have Broadway? If so let's cash in. Call me at such and such number".
I seriously think people are retarded or they are trying to take advantage of the elderly.
I recall the one year when the winning piece ended up in the mailbox of some hospital in an unmarked envelope.
