I just bought a car and it needs a new clutch but, I don't know what clutch to get because I don't know which tranny I have. Is there a way to tell d series transmissions apart?

 

What year is it? (Civic, I assume)

lol, I think its a jdm jsglktotmkg-1, 9spd fully seqential, 1.5 limited slip, magnesium case racing trans from a vtech (dont forget the 'h') b28a-6 tripple over head cam 2 cylinder.

It is an 88 civic hb with a zc swap and the guy I bought it from said it had an si tranny but I want to figure out what year it is so I can buy a clutch.

 

Just look at the stamp or sticker on the tranny.

 

I have the same problem. my sticker is ripped off where is the stamp??

 

count the spins on the input shaft and measure the size of the cluthc disc.

go to the autoparts store tell them you dont know which clutch you hve, and them bring out a 88-89 cluthc and a 90-91 clutch and you can compair the two.

88-89 cluthc has a smaller disc, and i believe it has 20 spiens on the input shaft while the 90-91 has 21.

make sure you have your flywheel resurfaced otherwise you'll eat your new clutch up...
