Well, I put some DSM 450's on my Corolla yesterday with the FTB hack, and the car ran good. Real good. I'm talking squealing tires in second gear good. I had so much more power in the low RPM's over the Vortech FMU.

Then today, after some 10 psi runs, I pulled into my friend's driveway, and the car started running rough, then smoke started pouring out. I jumped out with the fire extinguisher thinking I had a gas leak that was on fire, only to discover smoke was coming out of every possible opening on my engine block.

That's it. It's totally fried. I must have broken a piston or a ring land or something, because when the engine cranks over, smoke comes straight out of the crankcase.

So my buddy helped me tow the car home, a few miles away, and now I have to pull the engine and see if it's rebuildable, or if I will end up getting a 65k mile engine from a junkyard for $450. And to make matters worse, it's gonna rain all week, and this is the only week I have off of school till the end of may!

The engine's coming out tomorrow, I don't know what to do! I don't know if this engine's worth the rebuild, since all the machining will cost way more than the $450 it will take to get the junkyard motor, and I don't know any simple methods to make my new engine more boost-resistant. Two head gaskets, machined pistons, I just have no clue what I can do on a budget. And I wanted to race on April 5th! I guess that won't be happening!

Whew! Just venting, I knew this day would come sooner or later.

Damnn just when the fun began with the hack. well a jump to 10 psi must have felt great though.
too bad about the motor givin' in. I hope all goes well.

this is just my opinion, but i think you should bring the car back to stock, and sell it. get a crx. good luck with whatever you do.

 

I would absolutely love to! Except one thing... its technically my parent's car, and they won't let me sell it. The funny thing is, it's my parent's car, but my dad calls it my car, and he lets me do whatever I want to it. When I told him that I blew the motor, I thought he would flip, but he just sorta laughed and said "I'm surprised it lasted this long."

 

Damn, that sucks. Well, since technicaly it is your parents car, are they going to rebuild it I think it is only fair!!
