Default z6/y7

i have a problem i put a z6 head on a y7 and when i turn the cam gear to do the timing it turns but it is kinda difficult, my friend says that the piston is hitting the valves, i thought this setup was ok. need help

the timing belt is off
my friend says the belt will be chewed up

if the timing belt is off then the valve will stays at whatever position it is no matter how you turn the crank.
it IS going to hit the valve.

align the cam and the crank then put the belt on .

oh when you said you were trying to do the timing by turning the cam...
if it is hitting the piston, then turn the crank as well
you have to turn BOTH of them get it align, not just the cam

I thought by putting a Z6 head on a Y7 you got very low compression?

i dont know if the compression would be lower
