Default HP gains from exhaust over stock???

Hi,
this is hypothetical considering I have no turbo yet
but I was wondering what kind of gains I could expect when going from stock exhaust, to sayy.. a straight thru exhaust to a universal muffler.. or some other muffler..
or a similar setup.

If it was a d16z6 running 7psi intercooled ?
thanks.

I'd guess about 10hp. The stock piping is restrictive.

I swear to god, when I installed my ls/vtec with stock exhaust the car could hardly break the tires loose in the rain... I put my 3 inch on, the can went like a raped aipe.

yes it will be very restrictive if you put the stock back on. i ran a 2.5 inch exhaust up the the resonator 14.7 sec 1/4 mile. took everthing out left the 2.5 turbo downpipe ran 14.2sec with to much wheelspin to control.

anyone tried getting rid of that huge backbox on the MK2 CRX's and having the tailpipe coming out the right hand side? I have just done this to my rex but not tested it. I am imagining less bends and less mufflers equals less resistance for the exhaust gasses but then maybe the exhaust has to be a certain length? can length and width of pipe be a key player in performance? i .e sideexit exhausts? anyone got any input would be interesting...
