Default Datalogging Options....

I am going to be buying a tech-edge 2.0 pretty soon (don't argue w/ me on my choice of WB as that is not the topi of the thread). My question is... Should I use My TE2.0 w/ an external datalogger (off the TE) or should I use my ECU and uberdata 1.7 (already using 1.7 I would just have to do the datalogging aspect of it) for datalogging? Either one seems like it will work fine. and it seems like the ecu route might be a little more involved then the TE route. Is there any advantages to one of the two?

use UD's logging. The ECU isn't perfect in terms of A/D conversion. If you use the ECU's logging, any ADC errors are passed along in the logs. I'm not explaining this very well. Suffice it to say that if your TE2.0 is more (or less) accurate about RPM and MAP than your ECU, you will not be altering quite the correct cells.

I wouldn't say more accurate, but it gives you afrs for specific plots on the fuel map that correspond to the individual cells in Uberdata that you can adjust. Probably easier to tune with is a better description.

I'm having a hard time deciding betwen simplicity of datalogging via TE vs. "accuracy" w/ UD. it's kind of a give and take situation.

W/ datalogging on UD do you have to stay in clsed loop the whole time?

If you're tuning, you should be in closed loop, period. I've been tuning using my Zeitronix wb and Uberdata. It's difficult if you don't have their boost sensor... so i'm logging the voltage off the map sensor as one of the user inputs on the Zeitronix unit. Compared to doing that, I'm really really looking forward to just datalogging with Uberdata. There's a glitch in the non-vtec LS map right now, and I haven't tried the fix yet. I think datalogging with Uberdata will make tuning much simpler.

Did you have to buy anything extra to datalog the MAP sensor with your zeitronix?

No. Just tap your map sensor signal wire with the blue wire on the Zeitronix harness and it is good to go! I want to wire the map sensor wire to the boost sensor input; to see if the pressure values are even in the same universe.

I think you mean OPEN LOOP. Closed loop is when the ECu uses O2 sensor feedback to 'trim' the fuel maps.
