a friend of mine has a 95 dx and just bought a b16a2 that he wants to put into it. he has the ecu out of the 99 si and is wondering what wiring harness he can use. can he just get a OBD2b from an ex or does it have to be for a b16? i don't know anythign about swaps so basiclly i am no help what so ever to him.
any help fro you guys is appriciated

 

well the car is obd1 and that ecu is obd2. just get a p30 ecu. an ex ecu will not work, u need one from a b16.

 

you can use a P28 it jsut wont have knock and youll have to chip it or youll run lean. the 99 SI ECU is junk throw it away and there is no way you wnat to conver your car to OBD 2 jsut to save $.20.

 

okay so he has to stay OBD1, so what ecu can he use without haveing to chip it? or how much and where can i find a chipped p28?

 

are the plugs differant on the sohc and dohc harnesses?
say i have a 99si ecu and a 99ex harness, will they plug in?

 

DO NOT USE THE OBD 2 HARNESS AND ECY.. IT IS A HUGE HEADAKE JUST DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME....

With that said, find a p06 ECU and ill chip it with VTEC for a sum of cash but there is no point to go obd 2 and have to change alll that ---- to make the motor OBD 2 compliant... JUST STICK TO OBD ! AND WHAT THE CAR HAS CURRENTLY. infact you can chip his current ECU for VTEC and chip it for the p30 program without knock sensor and it works fine.
