obd 0,1,2? for boost?
Guys, Im really confused on this ----. I'm gonna buy a B16 for turbo with engine management. The obd 0 motors are cheap as hell, but am I going to run into obd conversions....blah, blah,,
? Would the headache vs. cost of the obd 2 motor be worth buying that instead?
I did a search for obd, but all I found was Convert this to this and that to that, and I want to know the easiest way to avoid all this ----. thanks

How about just telling us what car you are going to install this in?
Its not like your going to have a 98 civic with a B16a running obd0 just because its better, lol
OBD2 is really the only shitty one, but you can buy adapter's that will allow it to go down to OBD1 level.
OBD0 has very little support for standalone type systems, Zdyne is pretty much it.
OBD1 has hondata/AEM EMS. And lots of support with piggy back systems.
AFC/SMC/Fields hacks will work on all..

OBD2 isn't that bad, but if you want to have complete management of the fuel you'll need to buy AEM's programmable ECU - it will work with any of the OBDs; but can require wiring up your own harness (I Guess they really made their computer for dragging not street n' strip).
The motor is gonna go into a 93 ex coupe. I'd really like to save some money buying an OBD 0 motor, I just don't wanna get fucked with a wiring headache in the long run.
I mean, I'm need to be able to concentrate on other things, like double clutching and granny shifting.

if you buy the obd0 motor and put it in your obd1 setup, you will need a obd1 distributor, obd1 injectors, obd0 map sensor (or use the d16 t-body on the b16)
just little stuff, Its no real big deal to install, the harness swaps right on.
The only problem would be the tranny that comes with OBD0 B16 swaps. they are Cable operated, whereas your setup is hydraullic. You would have to get that conversion kit to let you use that tranny. Either place racing or hasport should have something.

Make this easy on yourself.. Buy the motor that goes to your car.
93 == EG == B16A2.. hydraulic tranny.. with OBD1 wiring, since you've already got it.. Plus you can use your lame P28 if you modify the fuel maps to dump for DOHC rather than single cams.
Don't waste money going from OBD1 to OBD0 just to have to FIND a rare (and expensive) PR3..
I mean, if you're l33t, you could program your PM6 for VTec style fuel maping, but that's another thread all together.
