First off I have a first gen ZC with a HMT with a t25, Large FMIC, and BTM w/6al.

I have the BTM to start retarding at 2psi and it's about 20 degrees F.

Boosting 9psi, static timing set at 18BTDC(set on the advance mark), at .5 degrees per lb of boost my problem is that 1st through 3rd gears the car flies and there is no detonation. Sometimes late in third and always in 4th I hear detonation. I am also running it very rich.

When do you guys have the BTM to start retarding and what do you have your static timing set at?

Have you tried setting it up higher? maybe to .75? does it go away? have you tried changing your base timing around, and just playing with your btm?

 

Maybe take your timing to 16BTDC and 0.75 / pound
