i keep seeing these piggy back style chips all over ebay that say they will can increase hp. anyone had any experence with these? all i have heard about them is that they murder gas mileage.

 

I'm not sure they are MUGEN, but they could have been programmed after MUGEN by looking at the fuel and spark maps

EDIT: AND no, I havn't had any experience with these

mugen chips mean, 10,000 rev limiter. lol

 

LoL.... I bought one about 6 months ago never put it in cuz I found out how stupid they are.

My friend just got one for his CRX w/B16. It was supposed to take off the gov, rev limit, and make VTEC kick in .3 quicker. He saudered it in and when he turned the car on, it would only go up to like 2k Rpms. It was totally messed up. He tried putting his old chip back in but the car wouldnt even turn on. He is in the process of getting a new ECU now. He cant even drive his car. It sucks!

 

That's because he killed his ecu from improper soldering. These programs if they are the actual copies work. I have dynoed my zc with bolt ons and a mugen spec chip and I gained 4 hp to the wheels. I have seen fair gains from these chips, just alot of ones on ebay may not be actual copies of the mugen program they just label them that they are.
