Road Dyno.. the results are in!
OK, before I post this address, let me tell you this is the MOST odd thing I have ever seen. Not only do I think the results would not be as accurate as that on a chassis dyno, but I think it's a rip off.
I have seen some posts on PGMFI about a g-sensor that can measure HP and torque based on movement, (Which I'm going to build and tell you all about it, it looks REALLY cool!!) but this is basing it almost entirely on your ignition pulses and some user fed data.. which can totally skew figures. Not to mention, if you read the bottom section, it tells you, in so many words, that you have to be a PERFECT driver to get accurate results. OK, providing there is some sort of logical equation that accurately translate igition pulse to viable numerical data for measuring HP and torque, wouldn't something this simple be a HUGE thing?
Hahah.. Anyway, if anyone HAS this software, I would like to procure a "demo" from you to give it a test. I promise to delete it with-in 24 hours if I don't plan to buy it.

I found this dyno 2000 thing..Looks like it would work but I dont know how accurate it is..

I have the road dyno version for $110. Works great, definitely worth the money. You can do a lot with it that can not be done on a stationary dyno, like cold air intakes for example, which really become effective at speed.

Another point about dynos. You shouldn't be using dyno figures from any dyno simply to be establishing absolute HP numbers, they should be used for tuning and back to back tests changing single variables.
The home/road dynos are good at comparing things, like if you did like 3 pulls with one intake and then 3 pulls with a different one. With all other variables the same, any changes in the curve can be attributed to the modification.
Even if you set the weight of the car incorrectly, if you left it the same for all the pulls, the results will still be pertinent.
Definitely not a bunk idea.

Even if the physical numbers are inaccurate, the measurement of increase or decrease would be still be there.. Hrmm.
Ya, I think I'll get it and do a review of it or something. I need to figure out how to make/obtain an inductor.
