So I'm trying to pick up an electronic boost controller, but I've had no experience with these things. Of course I'm trying to get away cheap, but what do you think about this one?

WTF is that other big box included in the auction? I haven't seen that sort of thing with other EBCs...? Usually the solonoid just plugs into the controller and there are no other boxes. Plus that one doesn't have a digital readout. I haven't bought my EBC yet (still shopping like you) but i've browsed them for a long time and i've seen better looking (more functional) units for a few bucks more, but still under $200.

The one in the auction you are looking at seems to be an older model. This one looks better to me:

Will, the only difference I see on that one is the **** to control how the boost comes in. Other than that, they look to have pretty much the same functions. That would be a nice feature to have, I'm just trying to get something that will precisely control boost for the cheapest. You know.
I added it to my watch list. Lets see how high it goes.
