finally got my car started and was noticing a little ticking noise but doesnt seem to be from the engine sound like its coming from the tranny. so i go to back out and the clutch grabs at like the top of the travel of the peddle and there is a kinda wistling noise coming from the tranny....any ideas

 

uh oh, is it making the `death` whine?
Do you have alot of slack in the diff? (jack it up and turn just one wheel, does there seem to be alot of slack until the other wheel turns)

 

you probably have a worn clutch or one of the springs are bad in the clutch disc. if the clutch doesn't slip its definately in the trans. You may have broke some splines on your axles and if not that its internally in the gearbox. about 200 bucks to rip the trans apart and whatever it cost replace whats broken

 

you said you noticed a ticking noise. Would I be correct to assume this noise only happens with the car in gear? if it happens with the car in neutral i wouldnt think its internal. could be clutch hittin the flywheel slightly or it could actually be something in the engine, possibly near the tranny, like flywheel or starter area.

 

i wont waste my time fixing a D-series tranny, i also wont pay 250 bucks for one. so many people doing B-swaps they have them laying around, i bought an Si tranny for $100, one for $50, and LX for $60 (seems to have the smae gears as my Si?). im not paying more than $100 for a tranny....

 

You are right... they are about 2-300 bucks retail at junkyards... thats just the going rate.

Dustin it isnt incredibly easy to find a SI for 50-100 bucks.. those are lucky finds, just like that mint starion front mount IC for 30 bucks.

I got a HF for 40 bucks, haha ****** is mint.

dude there are a bunch on NWSR site for 50-100bucks. seen some Si's, DX's (lots), "JDM" trannies.

im just too ------ cheap. infact i am probly not going to replace this tranny, gonna drive it till it explodes (place your bets poeple!). then hopefully return it of a refund i have a 30day warranty

 

what is the url to that site? i need a tranny for my 90' integra Ls i am looking for a Ls tranny but they are kinda hard to find around here i know a place where they are 60 bucks but the cars they have dont have been stripped all to hell.lol
