Default Why are widebands so expensive?

How come wideband controllers are so expensive, isn't it just reading the output of the o2 sensor? I know they are heat sensitive so is that what all the extra ---- is for? Just wondering.

Because the controllers themselves have to be created to "use" the information that is pulled fomr the O2 sensor. Electronics costs money.

Assembly costs money.

Research and development cost money.

Supply and Demand effect cost...

It's silly, yes, but, there is a lot more involved than just hooking up a sensor, and it spitting out an AF ratio. There is some low level programming that has to be done to make the controller work. :: shrug :: Those are the only things I can think of...

yeah but an ecu does the same thing plus much more and they are cheap. guess it's mostly supply and demand.
