hm intake design q's
i am building an intake manifold for my b17a1 and had a couple questions. 1. what tapered angle should i put on the id on my runners? they will all be 4 inches long. i was thinking probably around 3-5 degrees taper to a smaller diameter at the head flange. i am making a flange for the plenum that will be welded to one side of a 4 inch square tube that will have a velocity stack effect on the inside. 2. should i incorporate the idle control bypass into my design? i have heard that leaving it out can cause a pretty rough idle. 3. what is the white sensor on the cylinder 1 runner? i will add this to my design but am not exactly sure what it is.
thanks,

I'd angle it up about 10 degrees, and loose the idle air control valve, The "white sensor" is the intake air temp sensor, and you maybe want to fab that in.
Why not chop the factory runners and weld the plenum directly to it ? its easier

you mean 10 degrees included angle? that means both sides of the diameter. i am thinking about 3-5 degrees/side, or 6-10 degrees included angle. i will fab in the intake temp sensor, thanks. i don't want to chop up my stock intake incase i want to put it back on. i drive the car on the street quite a bit so i'm thinking i'd like to keep the idle nice and hang onto the iacv. but thanks for the input.
Why not just buy another stock intake and chop it? I think I have a b18b1 intake hiding somewhere (or at one of my friend's houses) that I might be able to sell.. scratch that, you're vtec, i run non-vtec.
I have zero experience with the b17 engine, but shouldn't parts from the b16 bolt right up? Yes I know the B series are all similar, but I'm not exactly sure on the b17.
