help please

everytime i start up my car, the rpm bounces up and down around 1500 & 2000. i was told that my throttle position sensor was bad so i replaced my throttle body with my old d15b7 throttle body and it still does the same thing. anybody had this problem before? i know its not an ignition problem because i was adjustion the distributor cap while the car was idling and the rpm still did the same ----. and i was also running rich considering white clouds was puffing out the exhaust.

does it just do this once quickly, or does it keep doing it while the car idles? if it keeps doing it at idle, it's a vacuum leak, guarantee it. check all your connections something may have come loose or have a hole or too big hose for a nipple, etc.

yeah..sounds like a minor vacuum leak.

Did you install a new TB gasket with that TB?

IACV/EAICV, take it out and clean it with carb cleaner/gas/ engine degreaser. I jsut did this about 15 minutes ago. Works like a charm. Mine was clogged with all kinds of ----. I still have other problems, but it fixed the idle up and down bullshit.

Hopefully the smoke you saw was actually black, not white. White smoke is the devil.
