What pistons will fit in the DOHC ZC motor? I would like some other options besides Rollerwave. What about SRP or Wiseco? What SOHC piston will fit in my ZC and give me close to 9.5-1? The real reason I need to know is that I am CHEAP and I find good deals on the SOHC pistons but I don't know if they will fit. If I used 8.5-1 SRPs in the ZC motor What would the comp ratio be? try going to your local pick in pull or some where like that some time u can find good pistons there i got a gsr fuel pump and pistons from there once and only payed to dollars (the entry fee) cause i stole them

 

The pick n pull yards wouldn't have any ZC pistons unless you were in Europe or Japan as they ZC wasn't released here. If you want cheap pistons I'm pretty sure the 88-89?? Teg pistons work. Try going to www.thezcr.com for ZC questions. They know a lot more than I do.

 

You will simply not find a ZC piston that will get you a 9.5cr from another car. Wiseco pistons are Roller waves, Endyn just designed them. The head chamber is a odd size, so if you were to put 9.1 d16a6 pistons in a ZC you would get something like 7.8 in the ZC. So you would have to buy a very high compression pistons for the a6. But then you would have a big *** dome in your piston. You want a flat top.

the doom topped pistons are for high comp. right and the flat are low comp. or turbo

 

Thanks for the info guys. The more I try to get this ZC motor ready to go the more I think I should just sell all of my ZC stuff and build a D16a6. I have one sitting here next to the ZC and I am begining to think that it might be a better way to go. I like the fact that the ZC has 20 more HP to start but the parts for the D16a6 are so much easier to find and so much cheaper.

 

No way man, I would build the ZC before the A6..

Rollerwaves for NA or boost..various cr's to pick from. If you are going to boost then you have an option to get JE's with 9.1:1 if your other specs are stock.

 

Rollerwaves and Wisco pistons are spendy. At least $475. I can get pistons for the A6 motor for $100 less then that. Alot of other parts for the A6 can be found used for a good price. I am always looking for the best "bang for the buck" that I can find.

 

That may be true but do you want to put pistons in your ZC that are made for another motor? The block may be the same but the combustion chamber volume on the heads is way different. I would suggest saving for an extra week or two and get what you know will work for an off the shelf piston. OR you can design them yourself and have them made which will cost more too. Maybe you can find some that are made for a D16A1 from another company. Please reply and tell what they are when you find them!
