Default Threw a rod last night.

Well, I expected it to happen.. just not this soon. After 200 miles of being turbocharged my D15B7 said '---- that ----'. #2 rod broke up top creating a baseball sized hole in the block and taking the main girdle with it. I'm not really mad or anything, not like that was a prime engine.

There was no warning when it happened, it was running really strong. I was just out for a joyride and I heard *CLUNK* and then pieces of metal hit the road No detonation or anything was taking place.. it was running great.

So my question is: Where should I go from here? I have another D15B2 in the basement that was running fine... but I know its going to do the same ----.

Which of the D series is the strongest.. because I know what I should be doing is looking for a A6, Z6 or Y8... I'm just unsure which is best or if they're all the same?

My D15B7 was a mini-me, and I guess those twig *** rod's don't like 10.0:1 compression and boost for too long eh

6-7psi (sometimes it would creep to 8.. but it wasnt at this time), Uberdata as the managment. I can take pictures tonight, I have to yank the turbo/mani off.. the hole is behind it.

you need rods and pistons. stock d series internals are not the strongest units. if you want to go mini me again do like i gig, and get a mr gasket mls headgasket. i dropped my compression to 8.8:1 with the srp pistons and crower rods. ill be pushing 16-18 psi

well the compression id say is killing you, you gotta keep it down or that extra pressure cylinders upon each explosion is hammering your ---- back down. And if your timing is a bit off, that can really ---- some ---- up.
Another possibility is that clutch i sold you was grabbing to hard, your motor couldnt hang with the clutch

I agree that the mini-me is what was the deathblow. I'm going to plop in the D15B2 I have.. it was running fine. I'll just use it as-is w/stock head. I just wanna drive the car again... know what I mean? I don't expect the B2 to last long either, but I'm in the middle of a F22 build and I really can't afford to divert any money into D internals.. it would just delay my main goals.

So much money into everything else that its too fun not to drive
