I had the same question, kinda, That's for desoldering, do you have any reccomendations for a good soldering gun? I'm trying to build my own ECU so I need to get a gun, any suggestions?

They are the same thing... desoldering vs soldering guns. Definatly get one thats adjustable. Don't wanna get those chips too hot.

I use a 15watt soldering iron from Radio Shack for my electronic projects. Works great and was like $10

A 15 watt is what you're after. The one from Rat Shack works just fine, however I would recommend a smaller tip, as it is ideal for working with IC's and SMT.

I personally have a Pace MBT-210 desoldering/soldering station. You can probably find one (Pace, Weller, etc.) on ebay.

I use 15wat to solder electronics such as my ECU
45 watt when desoldering with desoldering braid
and I use a 65 watt when soldering wires for my RC Car.

I got a 15 watt 3 prong (grounded) soldering iron from Radio Shack. When I was researching it, I found out the lower the wattage the better when soldering electronics. Also, the ground wire on this model helps when you are working with electrostatic-sensitive equipment. I think it was $10-$15.
