Default My turbo hopes and dreams shot down.

Looks like I may not be able to build a turbo system afterall. The whole smog inspection deal in California where I am moving soon sucks and my wife doesnt want me to spend the bucks on it. Thanks to everyone for your help and input to my research questions.
-I know d16y7's are tough to get power out of, but are there any CARB legal methods of getting more power. Anything is better than none.

edelbrock or greddy turbo kits are street legal. You'll have to pay for that though.

yeah, that kind of money is not an option. The cheapest I have seen is like 1300 or so for a greddy. Without decent management and intercooler and all the goods as well. Too much. I wish though. Should have bought a car with some ***** to start I guess.

yeah, emissions werent a problem but what are the usage laws. Some states if you have a bottle in teh car your in trouble, others as long as it's not hooked up, others who cares. I dont want to lose my car or liscence or something stupid like that.

Thats always an option I guess. Is nitrous worth it though. It's not cheap to refill and goes quickly, but must be fun while it lasts. I guess.
