Default t3 .48 exhaust housing ??????

alright, so my boy bought a turbo from this dude and the dude lied to him about the condition. he paid over 300 for it and thinks that it's crap and is ready to sell it for whatever he can get for it, me being a good friend, would hate to see him get ripped off and take a big loss. well basically, the exhaust housing has cracks and has two studs broken off where the dp bolts up, me being an hmt'er has no problem with these things, but him being an ---- vw owner who doesn't know much about turbo's, thinks it's garbage. here is a link to some pics of the turbo https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...threadid=15925

so, my quesion is, and it may be stupid and newbish, but i just want to double check, will any garrett .48 exhaust housing bolt up to it? if so, he's just gonna buy a blown turbo with a good exhaust housing for dirt cheap and just use the housing. he was going to sell me the turbo for 150, but i would feel bad because i know the turbo is fine.

Yup, most 5 bolt T3 housings will fit that. But good luck finding a used one that isn't cracked as well. T3's are known for this, but depending on how bad the cracks are, the housings are still useable.

I just bought a brand new .48 housing for my T3 off Ebay for like $70 shipped. I've seen quite a few of them going for around that price. Mine was in similar condition to that one and I would have used it if I could have gotten the broken bolt out. After going through 4 snap-on titanium drill bits and taking a oxy-acetelyne torch to it 3 different times, I said ---- it and decided to buy a new one, it just wasn't worth the hassle anymore. I only paid $30 for the turbo anyway so $100 total with 0 shaft play is still a decent deal.

rotsex: i want to sell them to you man, but i don't have the extra cash to buy tires for the rims i'm gonna buy with the money from you. if i had some steelies i would throw them on there, but i don't have ----. i may go to a junk yard and see if i can get some steelies for cheap.

crxtacy: i looked on ebay and didn't see any exhaust housings, just a lot of compressor housings, do you have the info for the people you bought it from?

Here is the auction T3 Housing

And when I'm searching, I find this works the best to get what I want and filter out what I don't:

housing (t3,turbo,turbine,exhaust) -(o2,02,oxygen)

Pop that directly into Ebay's search and you should find some if they are there.

Those cracks are bad. The .63 housing on Jeffs ls/vtec motor were worse than that. I know, I sent it to him, 3 cracked bolts and two bigger crackes than that. Just use it.
