I bought a 97 Accord ex for $2500 with 130000 miles on it. I was thinking about swapping and going all motor, but dont have the money. I then considered turbo-charging the f22. is this even worth it? I heard the H22 isn't even a good platform for this. Is this because of the 2.2's longer stroke? Should I have bought a civic Help.

 

I dont like accords, but you can do whatever you want, I have had one ride in a h22 accord, it was ok I guess.. but nothing like the massive torque steer of a turbo B-series civic...

My friend ca hardly keep the F22 in his accord from blowing up on the motor, let alone with a turbo... 2 motors, down... NEXT H22...

 

Hmm.. what turbo, fuel management and PSI is your friend running? Cause I'm going to turbo my F22A1 Accord.. and according to Jeff in another post the F22/H22 are nice strong engines to boost

 

let me rephrase that...

I dont like accords, for a few reasons.. they are family cars, mainly designed for luxary and hauling people around. Not for road racing, and drag racing, which is pretty much my main purpose in life

Dont get me wrong, I like the car for that purpose, but I would never have a need for it. Infact I just talked my sister into getting a 94-98ish accord.

I am also thinking of putting a h22a head on my f22b and then turbocharging. This will be a better platform, right? I should be able to run more boost with the h22a, right?

 

H22A head on F22B does'n fit a all...The F22B use F22A1(SOHC 135HP) head gasket....

the F22B(JDM) is actualy a F22A1 bottom end+prelude H23 intake+xhaust manifold and a DOHC head somewhere betwen the F22A1 head and the H23A head

 

Sorry. I think I meant f22a1. it is the stock accord US motor. I was told that the h22a head would bolt right on, but the pistons would either have to be replaced, or machined because of the valve clearance. But my question is would I get a significant enough increase in power to justify spending the time and money just swapping heads and doing some piston work, and adding the turbo? or should I just stick with the f22?
