Default would you say my engine is cool to turbo?

i've got a d15b7, and most of a turbo kit waiting to go on.

it has 115k miles,
runs good, but eats up some coolant(i have a feeling
thats the water pump though).

I just did a compression test
although the engine was only half warm(dont know
if that'll mean the results are higher or lower than they should be?)

but the results I got were this:
1. 197
2. 190
3. 190
4. 200

thanks

Turbo it, doesn't look too bad. And if it blows Hondas are crazy cheap. You could get a new D15B7 (used, but new for you) for under $200

Numbers look good, but the water pump will not "eat" fluid. If it's leaking that's a different story. Slight head gasket leak?

yeah i've been trying to diagnose the coolant loss on honda-tech. Someone suggested the headgasket, and that I do a compression check, but I was thinking the numbers looked pretty good, so maybe the headgasket is good too?
which makes me think of the water pump.

Car doesnt ever leave a drop of anything underneath it.
and theres only one spot on the engine bay thats slightly moist, and I think that might just be spilled oil from when I was messin with the head.

i was thinking about re-torqueing the headbolts just in case. I heard that sometimese helps.

oh, and a bad waterpump wont eat coolant?(well not eat, but let some leak).

So, you can see the water pump leaking? It can't leak from the inside(well it can, but it won't result in a coolant loss. If you can't see water leaking out of the water pump it isn't the problem.

Those numbers look good, yes, but that doesn't mean that under WOT and a full load it isn't leaking at all. It could be a very small leak and under no load it doesn't leak. Have you looked at the oil?

you don't do a compression check to find leaking gaskets, you do a leak down test. They kind of related, but not in the info they provide. On a leak down, you put shop air into the cylinder, and then monitor the loss. Anything over 10% is borderline excessive. But you can also spot your leaks. Air out the intake, indicates that you have a leaking intake valve. Air out of the exhaust pipe, means a leaking exhaust valve. Air bubbling out of the coolant, is going to show a leaking head gasket, and air coming out of the valve cover, is going to show leaking rings.

either that or pay a mechanic, and i'm broke so thats out :P

you guys are helpful too though

Maybe i'll try a leakdown test if things get really gnarly.
i'm going to re-torque my headbolts and see if that helps.
the coolange leakage is small though, so I can sit on it for a while.
(not going turbo till i have $$ anyways)

what do you think might happen if I just turbo'd it as is?
and kept a close eye on my coolant levels?
