Default Need opinion on Turbo size

I have a Mitsu T-25 in my possesion that I am looking to install on my 99 Civic Si. I bought it blown to have it rebuilt and installed but from what I see the T-25 is a bit small for my motor.

So I was talking to someone about having the turbo upgraded to a T-28 and he said that it could be done and it would be more than enough for my motor and boost level I want to run (5-6 psi).

So what do you guys think, does this sound right? Would it be a good idea to get it done or should I look into something else?

Thanks !

A t-28 would be just fine for a B16a.. But I think the price you are going to spend on the rebuild maybe more than you expect..

Also the factory wastegate actuator is set at 8psi... Not 6
You will need to modify the shaft or get a differnt wastegate actuator to boost that low.

the t-25 will be able to produce 6 psi no problem, it will also spool quickly with little or no turbo lag. The rebuild cost more than it's worth. Resell it.

You are right, it will produce 6psi.. but the high reving B16a that loves RPMS will spin that little turbo more than its capable off. @ 6500rpms the car will simply not pull as hard as it would in NA form. Its best getting a properly sized turbo for his application.

Well I had this whole post here about how I wanted to use this turbo and what not but I come to findout that (just finished reading another thread below this one) that the HKS manifold won't fit the US DSM T-25.

That just saved me some money huh? Guess that I am going to have to rework my game plan.

Thanks guys !

ok all mighty here is the sise you want. the t-3/t-4 turbo from the volvo 740. they sell on ebay starting at $100. im not shure if it will bolt to your manifold but this is the size you want. this thing spools up at 1200 on my d-15. and the wastegate is adjustable from 0 to 12psi. had 10 on my car before the (incident). i have 4 1/2 on my car right now.

Sorry man, couldnt help myself

I would have that problem too if I wasnt such a big gaping puss, and run low boost all the time.

My vote is for a T3 from a Ford or Merkur manual.
