Ok guys, I'm new here and researching to build my own HMT. I have a '94 Civic EX with the D16z6. I have been scowering the local junkyards and have found a handful of possible donor turbos. I found a list that tells me what brand and model turbo is used on what cars. What I can't find is any specs on the turbos. How do I know what I'm getting other than a model number? Can anyone direct me somewhere I can find such info?

And how will I know which one would be best for the D16?

So far, I've found the following:
*MERKUR XR4Ti 85-88 2.3L GAR TB0344
*SAAB 900 (16V Intercooled) 84-86 2.0L GAR TB0339 (Oilcld), but it was on an '88 Volvo?
*MAZDA 626, MX6 88-92 2.2L IHI RHB52W
*plus a couple more I can't think of right now, mostly Volvos.

id pull the merkut turbo, then sell it, but ideally use the saab turbo for your your d16, if the merkur is the 60/63 ill buy it off you....hmmmm

 

hmmm...60/63? So how do I know exactly? I know the intake side had a .60 on it, but I couldn't see anything on the exhaust side. That's my whole point of the thread. How do I know what I'm looking at? lol

 

the merkur is a 60/63
the saab is a 42/48
the ihi is even smaller than the saab, which makes it way too small
