Hi guys, I have a 1999 Cherokee Sport 4WD. It has the 4.0 inline 6, which has been running strong, but I'm wanting to give it more umph. I have a few turbos from mid 80's Mercedes Benz 5 cylinder diesel engines. My question is, can I put one of those turbos on my XJ an It not be controlled by a computer module? What other modifications should I do along with the turbo?

The turbo itself can be controlled mechanically, but you'll need some way to tune your fueling and your spark timing. I wouldn't use a turbo off a Mercedes with a smaller and slower turning engine though, unless you want this motor to have peak boost at 2000 RPM and be out of breath at 3000...
