has anyone changed there pistons while motor was still in the car reason i ask is im thinking about swapping my pistons when i remove my head this weekend to have it rebuilt i just finished piecing together my turbo kit and pre fit everything but im sure all you guys no the jdm h22a motor is high compression motor so swapping these pistons in would be great for my turbo setup or is it even worth it since im going to be running low boost 7 psi and having it tuned im running hondata s300 but eventually will proberly turn up the boost so doing now would make sense instead of taking it apart latter......also has anyone honed any FRM sleeves.....if theres no scoring or any scratches should i be all set withought honing it... this would be a great solution to lowering my compression on a budget and at the moment removing the engine is out of the question i no i should but dont got the tools lift hoist ....not to mention just getting that motor in my eg engine bay was a bitch... oh one more thing i no im asking alot but have any of u guys heared any good stuff about the mahle pistons THANKS IN ADVANCE

 

From what I have seen on all the honda forums, I own a 95 hatch with a h22a4, as long as the pistons are the stock bore size, you should be okay, but ofcourse if you are tryin to install over sized pistons, it would need to be sleeved..

 

Yes... you can leave the block in the car and swap out pistons. Only hone if you have too.

 

Okay removed head all cylinders look great no scratches mint so I should be allset to drop new positions in thanks for the quick replies ..

 

you may already know this but make sure you position the rings right.

 

+1 on positioning the rings like brett mentioned.

 

Ring position is key, and if you are removing the pistons for any reason, check the cylinder for tolerances, ridge ream the tops as necessary, and rehone.

Can't strss enough how important it is to rehone very time you install new rings, as well as ridge-ream when necessary.
