So I replaced the oil feed line the other day, and put in a ball valve to reduce the pressure to the turbo so I didn't blow out the seals, but I'm afraid that I restricted it too much because there is a howl coming from the turbo now (even with the valve all the way open). No I didn't put in a pressure gauge, and I'm slapping myself for not doing that.

That aside, what is the best and cheapest way to fix this problem. Buy another 14b, or can I replace the seals and that will fix it, or is there something else I can do to fix it.

seals wont cause a howling sound but a fucked up shaft that was starved of oil will. i gotta 14b if you want to buy it

 

sounds like a bad thrust bearing or something.if so its possible you restricted the oil pressure too much but i wouldnt bet on it. could just be time for a rebuild.

yeah its in good shape.it has the wg,j pipe,and the water lines. it even has the 02 housing if you want that too. ill pm you my paypal adress so you can send the money. its pretty clean for its age.

Showed up on Monday, Thanks. Now I just have to find time to install it. My wife ended up going into labor 3 weeks early, and now with the baby girl around we're kind of busy, Maybe in a couple of weeks things will settle down enough to install it.
