I'm rebuilding my D16a6 1.6 SOHC with hypereutectic pistons. I have a choice of using my stock ones or other stock honda rods. I can't afford the forged ones so I need some rods that can handle a little more turbo abuse than my stock d16a6 ones. Would gsr rods work?? What have you guys done in the past? Any and all replies are appreciated.

the eagles are cheap and strong..

 

ls rods will work fine. they are not a dirrect fit. some machining is going to have to be done. they hold to 350 horses.

 

hrm since i am nosey ls rods would work? so would some nice b20 eagels work...?

 

well.. to fit a b18a/b (LS rod) in a d-series block there will be some clearence issues that have to be dealth with. (called notchin the block) more or less means that u grind out some metal from the bottom of the cyl wall so the rod can clear the block while it is in motion. For aftermarket bseries rods, not worth it because aftermarket dseries of the same brand and model would be just as strong but the bseries will require machining costs.

 

D16A1 .... the browntop's with vacume advance??
Or the ZC blacktop rod's also as strong or weaker?
I got some ZC browntop rod's in my shed.
