My car is bunk-*** totaled. So this morning, one of my crutches picked me up and we went 'car hunting' (looking for the cheapiest possible honda and/or nissan). We found a 1gen CRX 5-spd Si, with working sunroof and everything. But he said that there was something wrong witht he cam or head ... he wasn't sure.
My question is, where can I buy another head (or engine for that matter) for the 12V MPFI 1gens? I am going to buy this car regardless of the cost of the repair, just ebcasue it has a clean title, and a semi-straight body. Any help would be appreciated. And I searched google and came out with ----. thanks. - Matt

 

Alright, a few more querstions.

- Does anyone know the engine code for the 86 CRX Sis engine?
- If nothing else, or shop is going to make this some type of stock car racer, and or sand pit rally car. (I've always wanted to do that ). Any tips on that? As far as parts and what have you. Thanks. - Matt

Your motor is the EW4. Rather than fixing that, just get the 86-87 Integra motor. Its a D16A1 and will bolt right in. You will get more hp and tq. Its 116hp and 99tq compared to 91hp and 93tq. Theres a lot more potential too. If you really want a new head I have one so just email me. Here is a link for a site that is specifically for 1G CRX's. You'll find lots of info there. HTH

One more thing. The 88-89 Teg motor will not work as easily because it has an electonic advance distributor whereas the 86-87 has a vacuum advance. The rex has a vacuum advance so its much easier to get the 86-87. Most of the parts from the 86-89 Tegs will bolt onto the rex like the rear disks, sway bars, etc. Everything from the Tegs is better so you can do lots of upgrade converisons.

 

Dammit ... that's awesome. I know where there is a crashed out 86 teg for a couple o' bills .... but the engine is good .... I'll definitly hook it up. Sucks being without a car ..... let the process begin .... *wierd eerie noise* ......

 

If you get it swapped and running let me know how it is. I have an 86 CRX Si thats my beater and I was going to swap the Teg motor for fun, but haven't been really motivated to do it. Maybe your experience will get me goin with it.
