Default Question for the custom manifold builders!

Im seriously considering building my own turbo manifold since it'd cost only around $80. I have a TIG, a MIG, and an arc welder, and air grinders/cutters so cutting and welding it together wouldnt be a problem.

First, i was wondering if where the tubes meet internally, are you supposed to weld those areas? or just grind them down so there's no rough edges?
Second, I was wondering where I could purchase the pipe, particulatly the T-mandrel bends?

And finally, third, are most manifolds constructed with 1.5" piping? I think I remember reading this before, but have never measure a manifold.
Thanks guys

the pipes/bends for the manifolds i've made (D series honda manifolds) have been Schedule 40 1.5" long radius 90 degree bends, and Schedule 40 1.5" T's

i beveled my edges and left just enough land to allow full penetration without a restrictive lump on my root pass.

(mig welded)

if i were you, i'd tig mine. if i had a decent tig setup i would have tig welded mine, it's so much cleaner.

as a matter of personal opinion i don't really think anyone needs schedule 40, it's really thick, you could get away with a much thinner wall thickness.

Hey thanks for the awesome reply

One more question though, I found where to get the regular 1.5" 90's (jcwhitney) but I cant for the life of me find the T's. I saw them on some site about 2 months ago, but have no reccolection on where to get them. HomeDepot or a store like that doesnt sell them, do they?

Thanks man !

Also try your local industrial/plumbing supply , I picked mine up for 1/4 of what McMaster charge, and I could return what I didn't need

Thanks guys

I found what I need with the sites listed and I'll check around locally on Thursday and see how it goes. That'd kick *** if i could find someplace where I wouldnt need to pay shipping to send mandrel bends all around the country
