350 TPI remote supercharging with roots/screw Ideas?
Ok, So I have a idea. Instead of tt my 88 iroc z28. I was thinking of getting a roots or screw type supercharger, and mounting it beside the engine in the bay, lining it up perfectly for the belt and running a downpipe out of the bottom of it to the intake. I can probably buy a screw type supercharger for 300 dollars off ebay compared to the 1500 it will take to tt it plus engine management and all that happy horse crap.
But on the other hand I am boosting my accord at 15 psi and I absolutely love it. When it comes into boost it feels like I am on a crotch rocket or a 2 stroke dirt bike.
Few things if you don't know. Tpi is multiport fuel injection so It can not be directly supercharged over the manifold. That and centrifuge sc's are out of this world expensive. Way to expensive even used. Turbo charging is not out of the question. I am actually still planning on turboing it. But this is just a idea. Positive feed back, good idea's, .........Even just plan old off topic good ideas that I might find interesting in this project.
After this I think I am going to find a awd dsm project for the winter months of driving. I might already have a prospect of a awd talon/ auto n/a 600 dollars, 96

i dont see why it ccant be done i guy that used to be on here before xenofraud sold the site supercharged his civic with a blower from a toyota previa using a a/c compressor pulley to be able to turn it on anf off when ever he felt like he made custom piping and mounting bracket
did not know that but yeah its a pretty **** setup he has it hooked up to a switch to turn it off while just cruising and im pretty sure he has it tuned with a two timer chip one with stock map and one with a boost map that activates with the same switch
Thanks guys. Its what I was thinking. But I might reverse the way I was thinking. Twin turbo the IROC and supercharge the awd dsm. I mean it would be nice to have on demand low end torque for drifting in snow and dirt. But The 350 Tpi will already have lots of low end power. Especially mated to a t5 tranny. You know you can get cheap blowers off from the sc thunderchickens and the xr7s on ebay for like 300 bucks. Screw type blowers. Then like you were talking about, hook it up with a clutch so it can be turned on and off. So a daily beater by day, snow drifting rally buggy when ever I feel like. But how would you set up a twin chip system like that? I am still not familiar with tuning enough to understand something like that. Would it be 2 maps on the same chip. Can just one map be made to accomadate regular aspiration and the boost? Stop me if I sound like a noob.
On another note. My 2.5 bar map from xencrom came in. I need to rig it up but. Does my base map need to be changed for this? Then after that well see just how much abuse a f22a1 can actually take. Its been holding up to 14 psi of flogging for a couple days now. I am going to the scrap yard to pick up another motor next week anyways. This one has 302,190 miles on it now. 2190 are turbo charged miles. It still runs like a champ and puffing no smoke.

So I wrote a great big letter on some plans ideas and questions. But it didn't send. So...... Instead of supercharging the Iroc I am going to still twin turbo it. But, supercharging the dsm sounds like fun. I mean would supercharging a 2.0 eclipse give the low end power I would be looking for in a awd for drifting in snow and dirt? I was thinking a 3.8 liter blower off from the sc thunderchickens or a xr7 cougar. They can be had supercheap off ebay. Putting it in with a electric clutch is a great idea. We can go all mad max style. ( I'm getting spiked shoulder pads and a s&m suit now) How would a 2 stage map work? Is it two different chips? two basemaps on the same chip? Could a basemap be made to read boost and vacuum so it can be run n/a and boosted and run properly?
If this idea gets off the ground a little more. I will go buy that awd eclipse here next week. Its an auto but I would just tear the motor and tranny out and put in a manual tranny and the motor. Needs head gasket anyways. I am envisioning Winter beater rally car. Welded rear diff and the power to break the wheels loose on snow and dirt and control a drift with throttle.

that sounds dope man ! you could use a rising rate reg. and a vacuum solenoid on a switch to the dash to cut the fuel then theres no need to have 2 maps blowers aren't as fussy to tune as turbo's but the tipping point would for sure be the what mechanism holds the pulley to the shaft when it's on and engaged I'm a millwright among other things and have dealt with allot of belt driven equipment blowers are similar in function to pumps and eat HP to drive and the clutch device would have to be able to stand up to the HP it takes to turn the blower I would look for a one from one off a motor home A/C an A/C system that cranks out the BTU's but with some tricky cobbling it would work sweet.
Yeah, I keep getting more excited about it the more I think about it. A talon or eclipse with a super charger awd and manual transmission. This winter could be fun. I am debating trading my yfz450 or one of my bikes and cash for a newer style dsm. I am not sure. Does anyone here have any idea what a supercharger would do to a dsm?
i dont know if the eclipse would work like this but moates makes a two timer socket where you have two chipps in and can switch to wich ever map you want people sue it all the time for dd and track. as far as the fmu dont do that it is a bad idea your dsm ecu should be able to work it out considering it is a boosted ecu already but i dont know how it would work for driving off boost maybe normal maybe not. as far as the 2.5 bar map sensor from xenocron when you hook it up you have to change your values in the tuning prgam to a 2.5 bar map sensor. once you do that you have to totally redo your maps as it does not automatically adjust your current settings to the new map.
