Default Catalitic Convertors

Well.. for some people. they might be in the market for a CAT. BUt why get the stock piece when there are many aftermarket high flow cat's around. Well.. my concern would be is how well they actually work...

anyone have any experiences w/ aftermarket CAT's ? what kind, what went wrong etc... ?

You mean true High Flow Cats, or glasspacks that claim they are high flow cats? I bought the fake one, thinking it was going to be true...it changes the sound a lot, adds a tiny bit of oomph, but it also smells up the air a bit.

Heh, I was a little disappointed when I saw the 'cat' was completely hollow after I received it. I'm sure I'll get a real one again sometime, so I'm interested in finding results too.

I had a random technologies cat on my old civic. I dunno about HP gains over stock, but since like the early 90's, cats have been so efficient that you are looking at maybe a 2-3hp difference for the most part (more with the turbo). The Random was really well built, but I wouldn't suggest wasting money on a cat unless you really need to replace it.

I had a catco and some other brand too. Not much gain, you won't even notice. Don't buy one unless yours takes a ----. Also check on smog legality, as most aren't legal to install on newer cars in Cali (maybe legal to install, but may not pass smog visual BS).

I sure am.. stupid emmisions suck. we only have to do it every other year though. But last time I did mine it BARELY passeed on the HC2's (hydrocarbons??) And I dont think it will make it this year.

If your car is a 88 its checked every other ODD year 2003, ,2005, ,2007, until its 20+ years old and its exempt.

89 cars check 2002, 2004, 2006 etc. til 20 yo.
