That varies per shop, what exactly needs to be replaced etc etc. From my experience, a shop can't give you a reliable estimate without seeing the turbo itself. Check out some shops around your area and call them to see if you can get a quote.
you obviously never held a use turbo in your hand every and i mean every used turbo has at least a little shaft play alot of new ones do to. shaft play is fine as long as its minimal.however 150 is alittle much for a t25. they usually sell for 100
I guess have never held a used turbo, whatever you say my man. Just because I have a low post count doesn't mean I don't know what I am talking about. Alot of people who say there's play when they are selling a used turbo means there's more than just minimal. but one person's thought of "minimal" could be another's thought of "slop".
OP, how many miles are on the turbo?

The seller said: " between 18k and 24k it was a replacement for the original" then a minute later sent another text saying " I say that much but it's really a lot less maybe 10k or 12k but I say 18 or 24 because we used it for five months

i'd think maybe the higher end numbers, cause they might be sayin less to try and get you to buy it.
but yeah. you can get T25's for $100. so unless they can work the price down. don't go there.
you can get rebuild kits for them though and do it yourself if you're really worried.
i say, try and get it for $100 or cheaper. and check play yourself. rebuild if necessary.
don't get it if they won't go $100 or less.
