Default How hard does a turbo blow?

I couldnt think of a good title but I'm curious. I just installed my turbo and before finishing my charge piping i decided to start the car. I wanted to see how hard the turbo blew against my hand. Well I reved it up to about 3 grand and thats when it started to put out some good pressure... but I really expected it to push against my hand more than that.

Maybe I'm just silly, I just expected it to blow my hand into my forehead lol. Oh the turbo is small as well 42/48

Does this sound about right?

you can't make much boost at neutral, no load.... you gotta be moving... do it at a dyno

this is probably not correct but think about it its only like what 8 psi,but ur getting the cfm,8 psi isnt really that much think about air tools i mean yeh it should force ur hand away but not blow it off like ur turbo instantly put out 200 psi lol that would be sweet tho

You can't expect much boost pressure putting your hand over the compressor discharge. A turbo works with a feed-back mechanism. What I mean by this is that since the engine exhaust spins the compressor that then pressurizes air into the engine that now results in more exhaust flow yielding still more compressor output...and on and upward in boost and exhaust flow.

By just disconnecting the compressor discharge and running your engine effectively normally aspirated (with a turbo restricted exhaust) will not deliver max power to the compressor.

it really is amazing how much pressure a turbo can exert! and with that many CFM. it really is an engineering wonder..

i am still amazed that everything holds toghther at 100 000 RPM, thats just ------- nuts.
