Well stopping by to say hello,
OK for one I am a long time hot rodder, Master Auto tech (ASE) and diag tech by trade.
I could say a shade tree mechanic ,,,but my shade tree got cut down.
What I am on here for is my intention to build my 1977 Monza 2+2 with twin turbos on a smaller ci V8.
Because I had all the basic parts, 6 forged flat tops, 7 rods, 1961 283 w/nitrided steel std /std crank and the bearing to match, a set of 2.02/1.60 double hump heads, already cut for big springs, screw in studs and guide plates, and Z springs.
So all I needed were 2 pistons, a rod(my machinist had spares)and rings. I have open access to the machine shop, old equipment but I do know how to use it accurately.
I also got a free LT1 gm intake complete with fuel rails, injectors and TB, so I was going to build this, but alas TRW/Sealed Power/Federal Mogul have torn down there forging plant, shipped it to China and havent even broke ground for new building,,,and they are part of big group associated with Chrysler corp, yeah the one that filed bankruptcy so I doubt they will be building anything for a while.
So no pistons ANYWHERE to replace the 2 I need.
so I am thinking of building a Chevy 302(since I found some Arias pistons for cheap if I can scrounge the cash) the block I have can handle 0.125 over bore so Ill go that way or use spacer bearings and adapter to install the small journal crank in a large journal block if needed.
This engine idea is to keep the little car lower end torque limited and use 2 smaller turbos to punch up the top end, so here I am.
I am looking for ideas to work with between 4.5 and 5.0 liters but with twin turbos, My thoughts were to use Ebay turbos that fit specific models, then up grade to better after everything is built. unless I go for used.
I build race engines and such but havent got much into turbocharging till now.
So hopefully I can help others and others can help me.
