Hi from UK!

Hi peeps, just a quick intro and probably the same starter questions that get asked from every newbie, but be gentle.....

I'm wanting to start making my own manifolds for Mazda MX5 turbos... (been on mt.net loads too), but need some more generic info on manifold fab etc...

What TIG welder amperages are good for a starter kits, say under £400?
I will be using upto 2mm mild sch40 weld-els, 12mm flanges etc... to be run from a domestic Uk 240v, 13amp supply.

Would I be right in assuming I should start with a log style mani, and move on to stubby's and ramhorns as I get better at TIG'ing...?

I have spent a good few hours digging through teh archives already, but any pointers would be greatfully appreciated.

Hi Bez,have you bought the TIG yet? I'll be making a manifold sometime, but will be using a 150amp mig welder with pure CO2,as it cheaper ;D,£3 for a 5 litre bottle

Thanks for the welcome!

Not bought a welder yet, but am more swade towards TIG as its much neater and what the "pro's" use so may as well start in the right direction..... Just not got a clue on how much to spend and on what! Still learning....
