Hello All!

New to the HMT boards, but been around a little looking at some of the stuff you guys have been working on.

Glad to meet you all. ;D Love the stuff I've seen on this site!

Name is Mike, and here's a little background info:

Advanced diploma in mechanical engineering/automotive products design.
Extreme car enthusiast. (Generally not bias to any specific makes/models)
Welder, fabricator, extremely mechanically inclined.
Race in autocross, pit crew for ice racing.
Build & race several cars (autocross, ice racing and the occasional track day)
The list goes on....

Some projects:

My friends and I have an 87 Toyota MR2 that was supercharged and is now turbo'd (home-made in everyway! :)) and is currently pumping out well over 200whp (limited only by the stock injectors...), it's fully built, suspension...everything for autocross (finished 3rd in class overall last season). I built the custom down pipe for it from scratch among MANY other parts on that car. I always like to build my own aftermarket parts when ever possible. Always looking for new projects/challenges and always adding to my list of "things to try". I've built my own 2.5" custom exhaust on my daily driver 2000 civic SiR among other things...

As my name says "MPR" for Middleton Performance and Racing. No, I'm not an official company, but that what I like to call myself. One day it would be nice to open my own shop.

Anyways, enough of my blabbing. Looking forward to learning from you guys and about what you have done/are doing and to sharing my knowledge and future projects.

Cheers!:)

Mike.

We actually seriously thought about doing that, but the parasidic losses with the sc setup are still present, the intake plumbing also becomes much more complicated, and we had to get rid of that ugly, super-restrictive sc intake manifold and 6 mile long intake tract that you get with the sc engine in that car.

Plus with both sc and turbo, you still can't make as much power as you can with just a turbo charger alone. We installed an intake manifold from an NA 4age (t-vis removed) for snappy throttle response and improved drivability while off the boost. Also use a water to air intercooler.

And oh yeah, she's been mega-quirted for 3 years now!;D

Don't forget, this engine is boosted with 8psi with the supercharger from the factory. It's not like we started with a NA engine with NA injectors.

Also, one step at a time. We've put a lot more money into the suspension setup and tires to make it turn faster. We didn't build it for all out hp.

The injectors are our bottle-neck for making more power at this point though.

Welcome MPR, keep your head up around here, your setup sounds good to me.

Hi MPR

Whereabouts do you live? I'm in Perth (Australia). Something tells me you are a long way away...but you don't know until you ask!

Keen to meet up with someone who has done a homegrown 4age turbo set up. I'm about to do same. I think!

Cheers
David
