ZC worth putting in 96 civic
I have came across a great deal on a ZC, 200 bucks
Is not worth it to put it in a 96 civic or just keep my d16y8, Will it be like a direct bolt in, Cuase my civic is automatic. Anyone have any insight on this or should i pass on this deal. |
Re:ZC worth putting in 96 civic
Forgot to ask, Also will it bolt right up to my Automatic d16 tranny

Re:ZC worth putting in 96 civic
i dont see it to be an advantage. you will end up spending more money than you woulf expect and not get much gains out of it. zc's are obd0 and i think you may be able to find em obd1. your current motor makes about the same amount of hp and tq numbers so why would you want to go through that big ass hassle of a swap and maybe get like 3 more torque than you had....if that!? keep what you got, try to convert it to manual and ......turbo that bitch ;)

Re:ZC worth putting in 96 civic
I'd swap that tranny before I swapped the motor. There is nothing wrong with Y8's.

they are full of ----, swap the motor and give me your Y8

Re:ZC worth putting in 96 civic
If I gave you $500, odds are you couldn't make that zc run right in your obd2 car... have you checked the hp stats on both motors?? A Dohc ZC puts out 125 and a Y8 128??? Why would you downgrade?

Re:ZC worth putting in 96 civic
However a ZC is DOHC and Iam sure it has greater potential For Turbo :-*

Re:ZC worth putting in 96 civic
The ZC could be DOHC, but that is of no importance extually...both have about the same power, and I kinda like the SOHC better now...easy to work on compared to the ZC, but I'll be puting a ZC in my EG eventually, cause they are cheap here and in abundance and my car is already converted to OBD0...just a few hours work ;D

Re:ZC worth putting in 96 civic
the only thing ive noticed on zc's is they pull harder in the lower rpms. z6 or y8 pull harder in the higher rpms. the zc feels faster but im almost positive that its the same ----. i got a friend who put a zc into a 96 civic dx. it doesnt run the way its supposed to, and one of the mounts didnt fit so he just left it off = ghetto. that thing has been nothing but a ------ headache to him. keep your y8, and convert to manual.
