ZC piston and rods in Y7 Block Question

I heard that swapping ZC or 88-89 integra rods and piston would raise the compressionin a Mini-Me , but I heard some people say that that the rod would not fit so you have to press out the ZC piston only and use it with the old rod that came with the block that your using. Is that true???? How many horse would the old stock Y7 rod hold?

Ok...here's the scoop. ZC and integra rod/piston combo's will work as long as the y7 crank has the same journal size. I know they work in a6's and z6's in stock combo form, but more than likely you're going to have to press out the wrist pin and swap them over to your existing rod. Might also want to clay your setup just to make sure everything clears on a mini-me. Last thing you want is to put all that time and effort in, only to crash your valves into the piston from not enough clearance. Also, your cr is going to jump through the roof, so you'll have to run 93 octane at the very least. Probably will even have to retard timing just to keep it from detonating. Hondestly, if you have them laying around and you want to try it, go for it...but don't expect it to be a daily driver, and don't expect it to last long either.

I just want to make it a daily driver but still stick with a mini-me setup (SOHC) not a big fan of DOHC too priceee.....so whats better using A6, Y8, or D15 piston... I don't wanna buy aftermarket piston and rods because I wanna stick with OEM stuff....

you can put those pistons and rods in a y7. but you might want to go to some bigger injectors to compensate for the compression.

Re: ZC piston and rods in Y7 Block Question

THose rods will work and there actually a lil stronger then the y7 rods. Hell pick up some ARP rod bolts since there cheap and just plastigage it and your set. Should be a nice lil motor. I personally like the y7 engine. No vtec to mess around with and bigger valves. I may pick one up and make a nice lil NA motor with some PM7 rod/pistons. Let us know what you do and how it turns out.
