Did some ZC tranny come with LSD? or all of them?
I think the car I just bought has an LSD..I spinned the tires and it left 2 nice even marks.
I guess I'm keeping the car after all

 

my a6 w/ stock tranny leaves 2 tire marks as well.. fyi...

 

yes, some did come with the lsd. but usually you have to pay extra for it.

u dont have to take the tranny apart persae. Just take the axles out and look through..

If u see a shaft in the middle then it is LSD if not shaft then its open.. wait.. or is it the other way around? damnn it, either way, thats how u find out, some1 here will be able to tell you what means what for sure.

 

haha crx your a funny guy, your 2nd instinct was right if you see a shaft bisecting you axle joint then its not lsd.. if it clear then it is lsd... Most zc trannies did not come with lsd and its actually quite rare... Depending on tire pressures.. axles shafts and suspension.. you may be able to spin both tires without lsd as my friend does.. How ever you may be able to just look at ur tranny code and i believe it was say lsd or the code # is different from that of a reg si or non lsd zc.. ill get back to you on the code#

I would like to find out as well. I have a SOHC ZC with the L3 tranny, I don't think I have LSD but it'd be nice to find out that I had been wrong all along!

Any new info yet? I've always heard that you can't decode the code #'s on the tranny it's self.

 

The only way is to look through the shaft. If the bar is there you have a normal diff if open you have an ultra lsd zc trans. the sohc zc tranny is the same as the us si tranny no lsd only dohc zc.
