Default ZC DOHC head ... D16A6 block

Possible? I thought I'd ask before I went out lookin for a DOHC head for my 1.6 Engine. I figured it'd be cheaper than going with the B16 swap because everyone's looking for them damn things everywhere. Or should I look for an A1 DOHC head? I'd like to go DOHC without having to buy the whole set

Yes it's possible. It's not really practical unless you can get the head cheap/free though. Do a search someone did an a1 head on a d15 bottom end and had decent results.

ANYTHING is possible. is it worth it? maybe if you're a millionare.

you could plop a z6, y8, a6 head on there and make the same/better power.

Well, I figured throwing a DOHC A1 to replace a SOHC A6 would crank it up a notch. But then again VTEC would help too...

If you were going to use a DOHC head you would want the 2g ZC which suposedly flows beter than the d16a1/ 1g ZC, Some people swap the 2g Zc head onto the 1g ZC block.

but either could work I supose...

No, V-tech is a good idle. Useless.

Stock out of the box, ZC head is king dick of the D-series. If you're willing to work a head and replace the over-small intake valves, D16A6 shines far and above the others. The V-tech cell phone technology implementation on D-series is useless, and overly hyped for rendering zero gains above what bumping CR commeasurately does for you.

Sad thing is, by the time you've maxxed out a the "shittiest" D-series head, running popular/cheap compressors and the ubiquitous 3 bar MAP sensor, you're already making more power than the transmission can handle. LS swaps out of wrecked cars can be had for $500 if you hunt long enough, those engines come attached to good transmissions.

Get a B16...you can't compare a DOHC D-series to a B16...it's not the DOHC that makes all the power..

I would Deff go with the B-16 Or the GSR B18.. B18 has a lil more power and more tq but the b16 is still a good strong engine
