117 i think, but its all in the ecu and cam
zc had roughly 130 w/ .1 higher compression.


the oil passages over lap but dont line up perfectly...

since when do the brown top / black top dont share the same head gasket?

I'm not expecting huge gains stock, but I think with the right cams and tuning it would slam dunk the SOHC on the same boost levels.

In the beginning you were said D16A1 and I can tell you that you don't want to go there. That is the 86-87 Integra and it has a vacuum advance distributor. They changed it for the 88-89 D16A3 to an electronic advance. I believe its the vacuum advance on the brown top ZC as well.

d16a3 were only some of the 88/89
majority were tabbed a1 also.

just make sure its a 88-89 w/ electronic distro.

the distro's mount differntly also.

best bet would be a black top zc head from someone's blown block.

The blacktop won't fit, the brown top ZC head is different from the blacktop and the brown top fits on the D15B2 I got and the gasket match. You can put the blacktop ZC's dizzy and etc on the Brown top so there is no problem with using the brown top.

The major problem would be to get a timing belt that would fit. There is a place here that can get me custom timing belt.

i have a brown top (86-87) a1 in my garage,

im getting a black top (88-89) a1 distro tomarrow, the 1gen teg guys swore that the distro wouldnt bolt on to the 87-88 head.

It's not a bolt-on job, but it has been done before....on bolt hole doesn't line up. You have to make that one fit you could drill a whole or sumting

Yes, I found out the autozone handed me the wrong p/n for the 89 Integra head gasket. One head bolt was about .5CM offset to the passengers side (if i remember right the rear, far drivers side head bolt). I talked to a couple friends who do cyl head repair and they said without looking at the DOHC head first, he couldnt think of a reason why he couldnt weld in the old bolt hole and re-drill it.

That being said this whole 'project' is questionable at ***BEST*** and I'm not sure the fairly minimal gains would be worth paying 100 to the machineshop to accomplish this is worth it.

Prozac is right.. I did this about a year ago, I had a d15b7 block and a extra PM7 ZC head I was toying around with. I used the 89 integra headgasket to align everything, and sure as ----, one of the bolts is off pretty good. The oil passages are easy to fix, just chamfer them a bit. I then went through my sack of 20 timing belts, and different crank gears and came up with nothing but a mess. Honestly, its not worth the time or money to do it.
