Z6 vs. Y7 rods! whats the difference

NEW QUESTION!!!! Ok should i use my stock rods, that have over 230,000, or buy some with less miles?
ARE z6 rods, the same as Y7?????

Ok, i plan on rebuilding a y7 block that i have. Im using a y8 head on it.
It has 230,000 on it?? approx? and it didnt burn oil.

I have brand new pistons, and today i bought a y8 gasket, and timing belt.
Im still looking for rods, and i need new rings, and bearings.
My question is, will the compression ratio be to high for my future of boost????
I did the compression calculator, but im not quite sure what "piston to deck height" is?

when i choose y7 the c/r is 9.9, then when i choose y8, its 9.3? help???

Re:Building my block (questions!)

no the comjp. is fine all you did was build a minime but with good tuning (fuel/spark) it will be find and unlike low comp turbo engines you'll have a little power in the low end

Ok, thats cool, so is piston to deck height, from the top of the piston to the top of the cylinder??

later

piston to deck height is how far away the piston is from the top of the cylinder wall, as you stated.

you don't want a positive number, that means it's out of the hole, and you'll be having fun with smashy smashy piston into head.

I would think that the rods are pretty much the same strength wise. I can't see a difference in 230k mile rods or new ones. IMO they are either broke, or good. ;)

Steve, its a proven fact that rods do stretch over time, not a whole lot or anything, but the stretching does weaken the rod and ---- up the CR.
