On a Z6, how important are...
The engine stiffeners (aka the L brackets that run from the bottom of the bell housing to just beside the oil pan on the bottom of the block), front and rear? What bout the intake manifold to rear of block support bracket?
Current build has neither, don't really plan on worrying about them unless someone has something to say about it. Stock Z6 won't make enough tourque to worry about, I would imagine. |

Re: On a Z6, how important are...
lawl... mine doesn't have any of that ----. I only have the upper trans, the upper driver side, and the big bracket on the back. I took off the AC pump mount, and the passenger side lower ---- mount broke trying to take the bolt out.

Re: On a Z6, how important are...
uh, the intake bracket, probally should keep that.
i dont know about you but when im wrenching that intake manifold is holding my ass up. i wouldnt lean 200lbs on a cast intake manifold if it didnt have a support. |
Re: On a Z6, how important are...
No intake mani bracket on mine for many years, no problems whatsoever.

braces are easy weight reduction!
|
Re: On a Z6, how important are...
i havent had any of those things on my car for years and i have no problems. i have some big power stuff in the works for my D, so i plan to put them back on when i get to that point. i dont know if i will need it, but i would rather have 3 extra lbs's up front than a broken tranny case.

Re: On a Z6, how important are...
On all the motors I've had or swapped for friend we removed all that with no problems. Only thing I put back on is the shield next to the flywheel.
|
Re: On a Z6, how important are...
I don't even put that ---- on... my flywheel's freeballin.

I dont run any of them. Especialy the intake mani, because it makes pulling the head a bit eassier.
