Default z1 head

ill be using the z1 head with the z6 block (vitara+tt rods) and a cosmetic hg to lower the comp. even more. question, how high can you rev the z1 head with stock valve train ?? and also is this a good idea ??

What's the stock redline on a z1 motor? That's usually a pretty good indication of how high you can spin your motor Rpm's are generally limited to whatever the valvetrain can safely handle with honda motors. Usually the bottoms are balanced pretty well, and I've seen plenty of stock z6 bottoms that will take 8k on a daily basis. Again, it all depends on the head.

Keep in mind......reving past 8k is cool but it doesn't mean you'll make power past that. Run it on a dyno. I've only seen a few D series making good power past 8k.

the stock valve train will be able to handle a bit more then what is restricted for them. But it doesn't mean the motor is still making power. Only a dyno will show you peak power through the rpms and the limits of you motor. You can take a redline of 6.2 and rev that motor to 8.9 no problem.....but all you need is one valve to float or miss....then click click click. Keep it safe at a safe rpm...then dyno it.

That's pretty much what I meant in my first statement. Just like my b16...just cause I can rev it to 8200 doesn't mean it makes power up there Hell, one of my friend's turns his d15b2/y8 head motor to 8k on a daily basis, but his power production dies off pretty much after 7500. Put it on the dyno, find out where peak power is made. Then look at where the next shift leaves you at power-wise. Most people I know only spin their motors past peak power range a little bit to give them a jump start on the power band in the next gear.

VETC-E [sic] redline is 5500.

It's the VETC powerhouse of the CX family!

Junk?

If this is the summer of $3/gal gasoline, I want my 50+ mpg. I have a Z1 sitting downstairs I plan to freshen up and use for the next beater.
