You can't hone a h22a?
I am thinking of buying this h22a short block that i pulled from car at work to make a h23vtec and the only thing wrong with the motor is it needs new rings. Now the guy i work for said that you can't hone it because they have some sort of coating on the sleves. I was just wondering if any one has heard of this and if it was true.

You cannot hone h22a sleaves because they are made out of navalskdjfa;lsdkjfa;sdlkf material, and they are SUPER *** thin... and to make an h23 vtec, you need an h23 block and h22a head.. not just a h22 block (that has nothing to do with an h23 vtec)

I don't think honing would be a problem. I just had a nikasil plated cylinder honed with no problem. They don't remove much material when they hone. They just create a new surface for the new rings to seal to. If they had to remove any extra material to remove any deep scratches they would have had to re-nikasil plate the cylinder.
