Y8 Intake Manifold Swap

Stupid OBDII.. What's up with the connections?

http://www.driftkids.com/pics/WhatAreThese2.jpg

First off, it seems that the connectors changed on the Y8 manifold.

OK, Number 1? Is that a coolant line, or a vacuum line?

Number 2, I'm assuming this is the Idle Air Control, which would make me think that number 1 is a coolant line, but I don't know for sure, since it's plastic.

Number 3 is the TPS.

Where does the Intake Air Temp sensor go? Basically, I need to know how to wire this puppy up to my PM6. Any documents? Links?

well i don't know anything about obdII

but 1 looks a little big for a vacuum line, but it looks like the coolant lines are already hooked up. 2 looks like sensor plug i guess

1 is a vacuum line, it's apart of the EVAP system. The little sensor in #2 I beleive is the purge control valve, that will not be used in your setup.

#3 is the TPS.

The sensor on top of the T-body is the map sensor..

Also the brown connector (on side of t-stat housing) will be your new coolant temp sensor.

The idle air control valve should be located under the T-body.

Not sure where air-intake sensor goes... never had a y8 manifold on hand.

Re:Y8 Intake Manifold Swap

I found out some interesting information in researching this manifold...

There is a difference between the manual and automatic!!!

We're used to our EACV being bolted to the back of the manifold in a 4g, right? Well, on the manual it is. On the AUTOMATIC it's not. :-\

The automatic has a sensor on the bottom of the TB that acts as the EVAC and the IAC in one device. It's a light green colored plug that has a 3 connector.

From what I have found, the manual has NO IAC on the bottom of the TB, and it has the "regular" style EACV bolted to the back of the manifold. IF you check out this picture, you can even see on the back of my manifold where the EACV would go.. Damn Honda! :P

Now the question is, how does one go about rewiring the EACV from auto -> manual.. Hrm.. Haven't found any information on this yet. Can some assist, maybe?

---- that, just drill the holes in that intake.. haha

Hahaha.. Jeff, you're the true "Homemade" King. Hahah.

If I do drill the holes in that intake, I can use whatever EACV I want. :) Heheh..

Aaaah.. I think... MY Z6! :) Anyway, since I have it.

I'd still be interested knowing the wiring though.

I dont think the PM6 ecu will control that IACV properly... maybe, but highly unlikly..

The AIT sensor is actually in the intake pipe. There is no sensor on the intake manifold its self. Is the PM6 ECU using a 3 wire IACV connection or a 2 wire? If it uses a 2-wire connector any 96+ non-VTEC SOHC motor throttle body will work (should anyway if the plugs are the same). Or an auto throttle body will work too, again if there is a plug for it:)

It won't.. but, if I drill it myself.. I'll stick my Z6 EACV (which was running my old Mini-Me on my PM6).

Just interested in knowing if anyone had actually done the wiring conversion. Probably not.. most people get the "P2P" manifold.. this is the "P2K" manifold.. oh well.. HACK THE GIBSON! ..err MANIFOLD ! ;D
