y8 head
i had my y8 head rebuilt machined...etc.. i had new valves and seals put in...i have a rocker arm tick and i dont understand why? is this a big problem because im planning to boost this motor. i adjusted the valve lash 2 times because the machinest who rebuilt the head grinded the valves down to make better seating and lower compression

Re: y8 head
What did you adjust the valve lash to? Are you doing it correctly?

Re: y8 head
well i started with the number 1 cyl at tdc adjusted the locknuts used my feeler gauge for the intake to .008 inches then tightened the bolt to 14l ft lbs. then i used my feeler gauge for the exhaust to .011 inches then tightened the locknut to 14 ft lbs. then i did the same thing to # 3, 4, 2 in that order

Re: y8 head
Was #1 at tdc fire-time? Mark on gear up, mark on crank pulley lined up... Also, don't worry about the torque so much... What you need to do is be able to hold the adjuster and tighten the nut at the same time. Double-check the clearances afterward. Btw, .008" I and .011" E sounds a little much. Go .007" on intake and .009" on exhaust. Make sure motor is rotating COUNTER-clockwise when setting lash.

Re: y8 head
Are you running after market valve springs? High RPM valve springs make a louder ticking sound than stock ones
