You dont have to convert to OBDI. Make sure you have everything set up correctly. The spark jumping is an issue. Make sure you look at the ECU. Is it still a p2p ecu? Does it have a 2 or 3 wire IAC valve? Did someone put the knock sensor on the Y7 block? Its screws right in.

Im just gonna tell him to buy a new dizzy, get a chipped ecu and a conversion harness. That way he can solve all these problems..

no need for new dist to convert obd2-1

I know the spark jumping is a problem. Im gonna have him get a new distributer anyway. But that still didnt explain why the timing was so off. Thats why im guessing it was the KS. It had a 2 wire iac on it before and now. And yes its using a p2p. I called my buddy to and he said he had the knock sensor code when he bought it so he had one but it was kinda glued together but he screwed it in anyway and connected it to the stock KS wiring and the code went away until now. So im guessing i bumped it and broke it all the way now when i was removing, replacing the head.

o yea and chris i know he doesnt need one for for the swap. I was just saying he needed one considering his distributer because of the spark jump that was occuring.

corrrect my if I am wrong but can't you get rid of the knock code by just grounding the knock wire so it thinks there is a sensor there. it's just a one wire ground i thought.
